The Trust organized development and security meeting in the participation of LDT, Nepal Police and APF Chief District Office and District Development Committee of Rupandehi, Kapilavastu and Nawalparasi district. The workshop discussed on various issues of security and development of historical sites of Rupandehi, Kapilavastu and Nawalparasi district associated with the life of the Buddha.
Hon. Acharya Karma Sangbo Sherpa, the Vice Chairman of the Trust opened the floor after his short welcome speech and introduction of objectives of the workshop. Member Secretary Mr. Ajitman Tamang urged for management of effective security of the Buddhist sites lying in the Greater Lumbini Region.
SSP Mingmar Lama, the Police Chief of Lumbini Zone presented security plan to safeguard important Buddhist sites scattered in the three districts. He presented an extensive security plan with specific policing categories for collection and analysis of information, tourist service, VIP security, crime and event control, technical team, traffic management etc. SP Bhesh Bahadur Shah, the Rupandehi APF Chief presented Lumbini security plan. He focused on Significance of Lumbini, Security Sensitivity of Lumbini, Security Management, and Future Security Plan during his presentation.
Rupandehi Chief District Officer Mr. Bal Krishan Panthi, Kapilavastu Chief District Officer Mr. Krishna Chandra Ghimire and Nawalparasi Chief District Officer Mr. Keshav Ghimire commented on the security presentations of SSP Lama and SP Shah and suggested their opinion.
Local District Officer of Rupandehi Mr. Peshal Kumar Pokhrel urged for necessary coordination between LDT and DDC Rupandehi for overall development of Lumbini Master Plan area and its peripherals. Kapilavastu Local District Officer Mr. Ram Prasad Pandey remarked on need of public private and government partnership to accelerate development of archaeological and historical sites in Kapilavastu. He also informed that DDC Kapalavastu had allotted the sum of Rs. 1 crore for development of Kapilavastu historical sites.
Hon. Om Pd Aryal, the Treasurer gave vote of thanks to the participants for active participation and constructive suggestion. Mr. Hari D. Rai, the Information Chief and Accountant Bhim Basnet documented the outcome of workshop and prepared the report while Arvinda Man Shakya, the Photography Officer had taken photograph.
