Inauguration of Online Ticketing for Lumbini by Tourism Minister

Lumbini, March 23: The Lumbini Development Trust has initiated the online ticketing system for pilgrims visiting the birthplace of Lord Buddha, Lumbini. The Chairman of the Trust and Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Hon. Hit BahadurTamang, inaugurated the online ticketing system on Saturday for domestic and foreign pilgrims visiting Lumbini.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Minister Tamang expressed confidence that the introduction of online ticketing through information technology would enhance convenience for tourists. He emphasized that the system would prevent any irregularities and make institutions transparent while providing support to tourists. Highlighting Lumbini as the center of Buddhist pilgrimage worldwide, he stated that the ticketing system would attract religious and other pilgrims visiting from around the globe.

Dr. Lharkyal Lama (Khempo Chhime), Vice-Chairman of the Trust expressed confidence that online ticketing would increase the number of tourists visiting Lumbini. He mentioned that efforts had been made to simplify the process of ticketing, ensuring ease for tourists. He also emphasized the importance of promoting Lumbini not only among Buddhist pilgrims but also among followers of all faiths globally, aiming to spread the message of peace and non-violence.

Similarly, DhrundirajBhattarai (Siddhicharan), the Treasurer, highlighted that the issues faced by tourists in purchasing tickets had been resolved. He mentioned that the support of the newly appointed minister, who visited Lumbini for the first time, in bringing the institution into the digital system would ensure good governance and transparency.

The new launch will avail the facilities for tourists, including payment cooperation from home and the availability of tickets for foreign tourists through QR codes.

Machhapuchchhre Bank has been appointed as the payment partner for online tickets prepared by Avocado Private Limited. Lumbini has been issuing tickets since 2061 B.S. Last year, before COVID-19, Lumbini welcomed over 1.5 million tourists.
