Non-Residential Diplomats' Conclave Held in Lumbini

On the final day of the two-day conclave organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Honorary Consular Corps of Nepal.Various non-residential diplomats and high commissioners from different countries emphasized the utilization of diplomatic power to promote peace and prosperity by following the path of peace and non-violence advocated by Buddha.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha emphasized Nepal's pivotal role in addressing global conflicts, highlighting the success of the Lumbini Conclave in spreading messages of peace worldwide. He underscored the universality of Buddha's teachings, particularly meditation, as a path to inner peace for people of all faiths.

In the program, Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Hit Bahadur Tamang, positioned Lumbini at the forefront for disseminating the message of Buddhist education globally. He emphasized prioritizing Lumbini's development and remaining committed to ongoing projects.

 Additionally, Dr. Lharkyal Lama (Khenpo Chime), Vice-Chairperson of Lumbini Development Fund, welcomed non-residential diplomats and ambassadors from various countries, stressing the significant contribution of Buddhist teachings in fostering peace and non-violence worldwide. He urged for the dissemination of Buddha's teachings to promote peace, compassion, and harmony globally.

During the conference inaugurated from Wednesday, non-residential diplomats from 19 countries along with commercial attaches and government officials converged in Lumbini, to collectively advocate unity for Buddha, peace, and prosperity.

The organizer, Honorary Consular Corps Nepal's Dean, Vishnu Kumar Agrawal, expressed that the conference held at the sacred birthplace of Buddha aimed to send a crucial message of moving towards peace and prosperity while abandoning conflicts and violence.

Indonesian Ambassador N.R. Heru and Secretary of Lumbini Development Trust, Sanuraja Shakya, addressed the audience. Representatives from various sectors including the Nepal Tourism Board, Lumbini Development Trust, and tourism entrepreneurs were present at the program.

Diplomats from Austria, Bulgaria, Estonia, Czech Republic, Mauritius, Mongolia, Indonesia, Seychelles, Tanzania, Serbia, Slovenia, Cyprus, Ireland, Spain, Latvia, Costa Rica, Poland, and the Dominican Republic along with non-residential diplomats participated in the Conclave. They visited Lumbini and conducted a tree plantation program, followed by the Conclave at the birthplace of Buddha on Friday.

The co-organizer of the conference, Chandra Dhakal, highlighted that discussions and presentations were made on various topics including investment opportunities in Nepal, tourism development, and international significance of Lumbini.
