Feb 5, 2017, Lumbini: Indian Ambassador to Nepal H.E. Ranjit Rae visited Lumbini today. Vice Chairman Ven. Nigrodha (Siddhartha Maharjan), Treasurer Surendra Muni Shakya, Board Member Rajesh Gyawali, Board Member Baijanath Sahani and staff of Lumbini Development Trust (LDT) welcomed him in Lumbini.
The ambassador Rae paid homage to the birthplace of Buddha in the Mayadevi temple and attended the puja program organized in Mayadevi complex by Vietnam Temple, Lumbini. The ambassador also watered the holy Bodhi tree brought from Bodhagaya and planted in Lumbini.
The ambassador Rae, replying to the journalists' query said that India had been supporting for Lumbini to develop this holy birthplace of the Buddha in to international pilgrimage center and the support would be continued in future too. The border entry facilities will be soon upgraded into international standard at Sunauli immigration so that the tourists would enter Nepal and India without any difficulties and that would help promote tourism in both Nepal and India, he further added.
