August 7, 2018, Lumbini: Lumbini Development Trust (LDT) provided the government of Bangladesh a plot of land for construction of a Buddhist monastery in Lumbini. Bangladesh obtained Plot No. WC 19 at West Monastic Zone of Lumbini Master Plan Area. After formal agreement between LDT and Embassy of Bangladesh, Kathmandu, a signage was set afixed at the designated plot amid a puja ceremony conducted by Ven. Maitri Mahasthavir and other Buddhist monks.
The ambassador of Bangladesh Her Excellency Mashtee Binte Shams visited Lumbini to demarcate obtained plot of land. The ambassador was accompanied by Mr. Minhasur Rahman, the spouse of Ambassador, First Secretary (Consular) Mr. Asit Baran Sarker, Chief Engineer Mr. Swapan Chakma, Chief Architect Mr. Mohammad Asifur Rahman and Nabin Chitrakar, LDT Council Member to Lumbini. The Embassy delegates were welcomed in Lumbini by Treasurer Surendra Muni Sakya, Project Chief Saroj Bhattarai and staff and officials of the Trust. Information Chief Hari D. Rai briefed the delegates on history, archaeology, the Buddha and Buddhism and spirituality of Lumbini.
Her Excellency ambassador also planted a sapling in Lumbini as a signature of her concern and commitment of Bangladesh Government for environmental protection and greener world. Treasurer Sakya also gave away a token of love to the ambassador from behalf of the Trust.
