Lumbini, August 29, 2018: High level delegates of Myanmar led by His Excellency U Win Myint visited Lumbini today. The President was accompanied by the first lady and spouse of the President Daw Cho Cho, Ambassador of Myanmar to Nepal Thiri Pyanchi U Tun Nay Lin, Director General of Ministry of Foreign Affairs U Thant Sin, Lt. Col. Moe Zaw Lin and other delegates.
The entourage of His Excellency President was welcomed in Lumbini by Hon. Uma Kanta Jha, the governor, Chief Minister Hon. Shankar Pokhrel and Member of Province Assembly Hon. Fakhruddin Khan of Province No. 5; Federal Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Hon. Rabindra Adhikari, Vice Chairman Ven. Metteyya Sakyaputta, Treasurer Surendra Muni Shakya, Act. Member Secretary Er. Saroj Bhattarai, Executive Board Members Hon. Durga Pd. Upadhyaya, Mr. Rajesh Gyawali, Mr. Amarika Kohar and staff and officials of Lumbini Development Trust (LDT), representatives of Culture ministry, security and media persons in Lumbini.
The President paid homage to the birthplace of Sakyamuni Buddha in Lumbini and obeserved the ancient monuments viz. Marker Stone, Nativity Sculpture, Asoka pillar, Sacred pond and archaeological remains in vicinity of Sacred Complex. The President and his entourage were briefed the archaeology and historicity of Lumbini by archaeologist Basanta Bidari. A group of Buddhist monks led by Ven. Maitri Mahasthavir performed Buddhist Puja to the President and his entourage.
Culture Minister and Chairman of LDT Hon. Rabindra Adhikari delivered welcome speech to comfy the president and his entourage to Lumbini. The minister Adhikari mentioned then Secretary General of United Nations U Thant's visit a milestone in development and promotion of Lumbini. The minister expressed Nepal Government's strong commitment to complete Lumbini Master Plan in few years and opined HE. Myint's visit to Lumbini as a source of great inspiration in development and promotion of the Buddha's birthplace during his welcome speech.
Mr. Hari D. Rai, Information and PR. Chief explained the Lumbini Master Plan to the high-level delegates. A token of love was presented to the President by Hon. Rabindra Adhikari and Ven. Metteyya Sakyaputta.The program conducted by Gyanin Rai, Chief of LDT Liaison Office, Kathmandu.
The President and his entourage also visited to Lumbini Panditarama Meditation Centre where he attended a meditation discourse program. Finally, the President visited to Myanmar Golden Temple built by the Government of Myanmar in Lumbini. The President worshiped and attended discourse organized by the temple. The president also offered butter lamp and dana in the Myanmar temple.
The President expressed his happiness to have opportunity to visit Lumbini and pay homage to the holy birthplace of Sakyamuni Buddha. He appreciated recent development and conservation activities in Lumbini and thanked Government and people of Nepal, Lumbini Development Trust and UNESCO for the initiatives and undertakings towards development, conservation and promotion of Lumbini and Buddhism.
