MINISTER PERARA VISITED LUMBINI

Lumbini: Minister of Buddhasasana and Wayamba Development of Sri Lanka Hon. Mr. Gamini Jayawickrama Perera visited Lumbini and paid homage to Lord Buddha on 29th June 2019. Officials and staffs from Lumbini Development Trust and Lumbini Cultural Municipality, Venerable monks, security officers and tourism entrepreneurs were present to welcome the delegation of Minister at the birthplace of Buddha. Executive Member of LDT Mr. Amirka Kohar, Acting Member Secretary Er. Saroj Bhattarai and other staffs of LDT; Senior monk Ven. Maitri, Mayor Mr. Manmohan Chaudhary and Chief Administrative Officer of Lumbini Cultural Municipality; Mr. Mohan Poudel, Tourism Entrepreneurs Mr. Mithunman Shrestha, Mr. Lilamani Sharma, Mr. Hem Bahadur Bista were also present to welcome the delegates.

Vice Chairman of Lumbini Development Trust Ven. Metteyya Sakyaputta explained about Lumbini Master Plan to the Hon. Minister and his delegation. Ven. Metteyya urged for cooperation between Sri Lankan Government and local governments of Lumbini, Tilaurakot, Devadaha and Ramagrama to help for development of these historic sites. Minister Perera expressed his keen interest to cooperate with Nepal for the development of Buddhist sites. Ven. Metteyya offered seed of Saal tree from Lumbini to the Minister as a token of love.

Information officer of Lumbini Development Trust Mr. Rajan Basnet explained and introduced about the monuments in the vicinity of Lumbini Sacred Garden. The monks in the lead of Ven. Maitri conducted puja for the Minister and his delegates in the Mayadevi Temple. The Minister and his delegation felt unleashed and were happy to be in the birthplace of the Buddha.
