Lumbini: A delegation from the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Bangladesh visited Lumbini on 1st November 2019. Secretary of Ministry of Religious Affairs Bangladesh Md. Anisur Rahman, Joint Secretary Md. A. Hamid Zamadder and other three team members from Bangladesh visited the birthplace of Lord Buddha. Vice Chair of Lumbini Development Trust Ven. Metteyya Sakyaputta, acting Member Secretary and Project Chief Mr. Saroj Bhattarai and other staffs of Lumbini Development Trust welcomed the delegation at the Mayadevi Temple. Chief Archaeological Officer Mr. Himal Upreti and Information Officer Mr. Rajan Basnet guided the team to the World Heritage Site of Lumbini where the important archaeological sites dating back to 6th Century BC to 7th Century AD are preserved.
The delegation also visited the allocated land for the construction of Bangladesh Buddhist Monastery in the West Monastic Zone in Lumbini. A meeting between the Bangladesh delegation and Lumbini Development Trust also discussed about the timely construction of the Monastery and other areas of cooperation between Bangladesh and Nepal for the promotion of Buddhism.
