Lumbini:Ambassador of Bangladesh to Nepal His Excellency Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury and his entourage visited Lumbini on January 15, 2021. Accompanied by Fahim Noor Chowdhury and Sunil Basnet of the Embassy, the ambassador Chowdhury was welcomed in Lumbini by Vice-Chairman Ven. Metteyya Sakyaputta (Awadesh Tripathi), Member Secretary Sanuraja Shakya, Board Members Rajesh Gyawali, Project Manager Er. Saroj Bhattarai and officials of Lumbini Development Trust.
Ambassador Chowdhury visited Mayadevi Temple and paid homage to the birthplace Sakyamuni Buddha. He observed the monasteries in Lumbini International Monastic Zone and visited the plot of land received by Bangladesh for Buddhist monastery construction. Information and PR Chief Dr. Hari D. Rai explained the historical, spiritual, and archaeological significance of Lumbini, the World Heritage Property to the dignitaries and provided a guided tour to Kapilavastu archaeological sites.
The Ambassador expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome offered by the Trust. He also said that Bangladesh was planning to commence the construction of a Buddhist monastery in Lumbini very soon.
