Lumbini: A delegation of Ministers of Internal Affairs and Law of seven provinces of Nepal visited Lumbini on January 23, 2021. The delegation was accompanied by the Secretaries and Chief Attorneys of the seven provinces.
The delegates were welcomed amid a formal program organized by Lumbini Development Trust where Treasurer Surendramuni Shakya delivered the welcome speech, Administration Chief Gyanin Rai briefed about the present situation of Lumbini and other Buddhist sites lying under the jurisdiction of the Trust. Information and PR Chief Dr. Hari D. Rai explained to the guest about Lumbini Master Plan, history, archaeology, and tourism in the region.
On behalf of the delegates; Minister of Lumbini Province Hon. Kul Prasad KC, Minister of Gandaki Province Hon. Hari Bahadur Chuman, Minister of Province 1 Hon. Himmat Kumar Karki, and Minister of Karnali Province Hon. Naresh Bhandari expressed their solidarity and commitment to cooperation and partnership in the promotion and development of tourism. The delegation agreed that tourism could be a strong vehicle to drive the provincial as well as national economy for which Lumbini, the holy birthplace of the Buddha and world heritage property could play a pivotal role to attract a large number of foreign tourists to Nepal.
