Governor of Uttar Pradesh, India Honorable Anandiben Mafatlal Patel visited Lumbini on Dec. 3, 2021. She was accompanied an entourage of OSD to the Governor Mr. Ashok Desai, security personnel and delegates. The Governor and her entourage was welcomed in Lumbini by the officials of Lumbini Development Trust, journalists and security personnel.
The Governor Patel and her entourage visited world heritage property and the holy birthplace of the Buddha Mayadevi temple. She paid homage to the holy shrine and lit the lamp for the world peace and prosperity. She also visited international monasteries in Lumbini. The governor also inspected Lumbini Museum.
In response to a query, The Governor said, “Nepal and India share many Buddhist heritages; and they should be promoted and marketed jointly for the mutual benefit of the both countries.” She also committed to easy the border issues to promote cross border tourism.
LDT Executive Board Member Mr. Rajesh presented a token of love to the Governor from behalf of the Trust while Information and PR Chief Dr. Hari D. Rai brief the history, religiosity and archaeology of Lumbini.
