Deputy Assistant Secretary for Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs of the United States Her Excellency Kelly Keiderling visited Lumbini on 19th April 2022. Her Excellency was accompanied by Dr. Nabila Massoumi, Ed. D. of the United States Department of State, and staff from the US Embassy in Kathmandu.
Member Secretary Sanuraja Sakya, Board Members Rajesh Sakya, and Netra Shahi of Lumbini Development Trust welcomed the Deputy Assistant Secretary and her delegation in Lumbini. DAS Kelly paid homage to the birthplace of Lord Sakyamuni Buddha and observed the historic Buddhist monuments in the world heritage site complex of Lumbini.
Her Excellency Kelly also visited Lumbini Buddhist University and met with monastic communities in Lumbini. Information Chief of LDT Dr. Hari D. Rai briefed the distinguished guests about the spiritual and historic significance of Lumbini.
