Myanmar's Minister of Religious Affairs and Culture, U Tin Oo Lwin, visited the birthplace of Buddha, Lumbini, on Wednesday. Minister U Tin was welcomed by senior security officer of the Lumbini Development Trust, Khagendra Kafle; Senior Information officer, Rajan Basnet; and Junior Officer Bikas Lama. On this occasion, Minister U Tin visited the Peace Flame, the Mayadevi Temple, Pushkarini Pond, and the Asoka Pillar to learn more about Lumbini.
Expressing great happiness at being able to visit Buddha’s birthplace, U Tin prayed for peace in the Mayadevi Temple complex. As a Buddhist country, Myanmar holds great reverence and faith in Lumbini. The Myanmar Monastery in Lumbini organized the worship arrangements. The Lumbini Development Trust expects this visit by the Minister of Culture and Religion to increase the number of pilgrims from Myanmar visiting Lumbini.
