Lumbini, Dec. 12 2017: Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services of Myanmar Senior General Min Aung Hlaing who is on a goodwill visit to Nepal at the invitation of Chief of Army Staff General Ranjendra Chhetri visited Lumbini today. The Commander in Chief Min was accompanied by his wife the first lady Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, senior military officers of Myanmar, other delegates and Nepalese Major General Rajendra Karki and senior officers of Nepal Army.
Department Heads and staff of Lumbini Development Trust (LDT) including Treasurer Surendra Muni Shakya and Project Chief Er. Saroj Bhattarai welcomed the delegates at the entrance gate of Mayadevi Temple. Information Chief Hari D. Rai explained the delegates about longstanding monuments of Lumbini, the World Heritage Property. Burmese monk Ven. U Sandima performed puja for the peace, prosperity and good health of the delegates at the sacred birthplace of Sakyamuni Buddha inside Mayadevi temple.
The delegates also visited Panditarama Vipassana Meditation Centre and Myanmar Golden Buddhist Temple in Lumbini Monastic Zone run by the Government of Myanmar. The delegates meditated in the meditation center and prayed in the Golden Temple. Treasurer Shakya gave away the token of love from behalf of LDT while the Commander in Chief Min and his companions donated one thousand six hundred US dollars to the Trust.
Finally, the delegates visited Tilaurakot, the ancient Sakya Capital City. Tilaurakot in Kapilavastu is a site of UNESCO's world heritage tentative list where Prince Siddhartha spent twenty-nine years of his princely life. Brigadier General Sailendra Shumsher Thapa, Lieutenant Colonel Shashi Thapa of Nepal Army and Rajesh Gyawali, Executive Board Member of Lumbini Development Trust welcomed the delegates at Tilaurakot. The distinguished guests observed the Eastern Gate of ancient Sakya palace from where Prince Siddhartha had renounced the palatial life in search of supreme knowledge. They also observed the western gate of the palace and other archaeological remains. The delegates landed in helicopters flew to Pokhara after Tilaurakot for night stay.
