On the occasion of World Environment Day 2018, Lumbini Development Trust (LDT) organized tree plantation program on June 5, 2018. Five thousand saplings were planted by Trust as decided by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation in the New Lumbini Village of the Lumbini Master Plan Area.
The plantation campaign was participated by the Member of National Assembly Hon. Durga Prasad Upadhyaya, Member of Provincial Assembly Hon. Fakhruddin Khan, Secretary of MoCTCA Krishna Pd. Devakota, Rupandehi CDO Udaya Rana Magar, Treasurer Surendra Muni Sakya, Project Chief Er. Saroj Bhattarai and staff and officials of LDT, Monks and Nuns of Lumbini International Monastic Zone, Mayor of Lumbini Cultural Municipality Man Mohan Chaudhari and local people.
The monks and nuns chanted and prayed for world peace and green world before beginning the the plantation. Nepal Human Right Commission Member Hon. Supip Pathak also planted some saplings in Lumbini to support the campaign on the following day. Initiated on World Environment Day the plantation program is being continued to make green and clean Lumbini.
