Renowned 91-year-old Buddhist monk from Myanmar, Fa-Uk Sayadaw Bhante Achinna, visited Buddha's birthplace, Lumbini. Fa-Uk Sayadaw explored the Mayadevi Temple, the monastery area, and the ancient Kapilavastu region.
Arriving in Lumbini on November 2, the spiritual leader performed meditation and worship at the Mayadevi Temple. During his visit to the Lumbini Master Plan area, he also planted a sal tree. Alongside the Lumbini area, Ven. Fa-Uk visited several important Buddhist sites, including Kudan in ancient Kapilavastu, where Buddha met his father King Suddhodana for the first time after attaining enlightenment, Gotihawa (the birthplace of Krakuchanda Buddha), and Niglihawa (the birthplace of Kanakamuni Buddha), according to tour group member Tara Rai.
Additionally, the monk visited the Mahavana forest, where Buddha delivered the Great Discourse (Mahasamaya Sutta) to 500 arhats and countless deities. He also meditated by the bank of the Banganga River.
The Lumbini Development Trust’s Account officer, Bhim Basnet, and junior officer, Bikas Lama, provided guidance and facilitated his visit to Lumbini and Kapilavastu. Lumbini Buddhist University also welcomed him.
Concluding his six-day visit, Ven. Fa-Uk Sayadaw’s team returned to Dolakha on Friday, where a Dhamma Daya Meditation Center has been established under his leadership.
