Nov. 27, 2025, Lumbini: His Excellency Shmulik Arie Bass, the Ambassador of Israel, visited Lumbini—the sacred birthplace of Lord Buddha and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Upon his arrival, he was warmly welcomed by Acting Member-Secretary of the Lumbini Development Trust, Gyanin Rai, along with officials and staff of the Trust.

During the visit, Ambassador Bass received a comprehensive briefing on the Lumbini Master Plan, prepared for the long-term development of the sacred area. He was also informed about the conservation efforts within the World Heritage Site, including the Maya Devi Temple complex, the Ashoka Pillar, the Puskarini pond, and other archaeological structures, as well as ongoing development and restoration works.

The Lumbini Development Trust and Ambassador Bass held meaningful discussions on promoting tourism in Lumbini, improving facilities for domestic and international visitors, expanding infrastructure, and exploring future areas of cooperation. The Trust expressed that the visit further strengthened the friendly bilateral relations and opened avenues for enhanced cultural collaboration between the two countries.
